IF YOU DID THE DISCUSSION, YOU CAN SKIP THE NEXT SELF EXPLANATION.  JUST WRITE IN THE FIRST BOX "LED DISCUSSION" AND THE APPROXIMATE DATE/WEEK.  IF YOU HAVE LED A DISCUSSION AND HAVE NOT "SKIPPED" A SELF EXPLANATION YET -- YOU CAN SKIP ONE FUTURE ONE. 


Why do we do self explanations? Self-explanation is a scientifically tested learning tool.  This is not intended to assess you (there is no right or wrong answers). This is designed to strengthen your skill as a learner and reader. Research indicates that doing this process helps students process the information at a deeper level and retain more. Here are some references for the effectiveness of this technique:
